Small Paws is a small cattery licenced by Argyll and Bute Council for 30 cats, and is built to EEC standards.
It is family run and we have plenty of time to cuddle the cats to make them feel welcome and at home. I have been
involved with cat rescue for around 17 years and opened the cattery in 1994 after many requests from people who needed
somewhere for their cats to go when they themselves went away on holiday. My profession in my first life was
nursing, so I've swapped caring for people for caring for cats!
Each chalet has heat lamps (which heat the air and the whole cat, and not just the underside of the cat as you get
with a heated bed) and has its own covered run. You are welcome to bring your cat's own bed, toys and treats, and
anything else you think might help your wee friend to settle in. One thing necessary to bring is an old
unwashed T-shirt or jumper of your own to put in your cat's bed. Please also bring a telephone number where
you, or somebody who can make decisions for you, can be contacted while you are away.
An up-to-date certificate of vaccination against cat 'flu' and feline enteritis is essential, and should be brought
with you.
The cats have the radio to listen to all day to bring a touch of home, we don't have silly gimmicks like
DVD players!
All ages of cats are welcome, medication can be given at no extra cost as long as you bring it with you, and
grooming can be done if necessary.
A collection and delivery service is available to and from Oban for a small extra charge (eg:£5 collection).
